Together with International Center for Local Democracy (ICLD), SKL International is implementing an International Training Programme (ITP) on sustainable urban development. The programme period for the first round is between January 2020 – March 2022 and has participants from the cities of Can Tho and Quy Nhon in Vietnam and from Semarang and Yogyakarta in Indonesia.
The overall objective of the programme is strengthened capacity of local governments to plan, develop and manage urban areas in a sustainable and inclusive direction using the SymbioCity methodology. The programme seeks to enhance the capacity of individuals as well as organizations. Participants are decision-makers and public officials from local authorities, working in departments dealing with varying types of urban development. The training aims to provide inspiration, approaches and tools which are effective and useful in the local context and which will ultimately lead to improved health, safety, comfort and quality of life for people living in urban areas.
Time period: Three rounds of trainings between the years 2021-2025
